The European Huntington Association (EHA) board meeting took place in Sofia, Bulgaria. Here the newly elected board discussed the future of EHA. The organization are focusing on especially two projects: Stronger Together and HD on the move. Both of them are initiated by EHA and are going to happen in close collaboration with the European Huntington’s Disease Network (EHDN) and sponsors.

The EHA board meeting took place in Sofia, Bulgaria. The newly elected board chose the location based on the next EHA conference in September 2017. The conference will take place in just that beautiful city: Sofia.

The board meeting was the first of its kind with the newly elected board. You will find all the board members here. The meeting was inspiring – and it was an enthusiastic group that left Sofia after two days. The new elected President Astri Arnesen tells me: “I am so exited about the future! EHA has now such a good opportunity to realize projects and activites and really make a difference for HD affected around Europe”.

Astri Arnesen, President of EHA

The board talked about EHA in the upcoming year. There are especially two projects that are going to have the focus of the organization: Stronger Together and HD on the move.  The project Stronger Together aims to assist new associations between all people affected by Huntington’s disease (HD) and patient advocacy. You can read more about the project here.

In addition, a new project is being planned and it is called “HD on the move”.  The project is about having the HD community engaged in physical activity. Besides staying healthier longer, physical activity is also proven to delay disease progression to a certain degree. The researcher Monica Busse, also found physical activity to improve total motor function in patients that already had some progression of HD. You can read more about Busse’s research in the EHDN newsletter at page 3.

Both Stronger Together and HD on the move will happen in close collaboration with the European Huntington’s Disease Network (EHDN) and sponsors.
